Measuring
Easy Measuring Instructions
1. Print these instructions and follow for each and every window—because window sizes often vary by as little as 1/8 of an inch, potentially affecting proper operation of shades.
2. Take each measurement two (2) times and be 100% confident. You are responsible. Errors are correctable only by purchasing a new properly-measured shade.
3. Use a steel measuring tape and round down each measurement to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.
4. For very wide windows we recommend using two or three shades on one headrail. This will reduce the load placed on the lifting mechanism extending the life of the shades greatly. You can measure to place the edges of butted shades over the center of mullions.
5. Feel free to call us for assistance in any way.
Inside-Mount (Recessed)
| The inside-mount provides a clean look, allowing trim features to shine. The shade will hang inside the window frame. Note: to ensure a flush mount with the front of window trim, the recess must be a minimum of 2 3/4 inches (Some operating options require additional room). |

|
|
| Note: A deduction of approximately 1/2" for woven shades and approximately 1 1/2" (1 3/4" with optional end caps or fascia) for contract roller shades is automatically taken when inside-mount is specified to accommodate operating hardware and insure proper operation of the shade. If light gaps are not desired we strongly recommend the use of outside-mount with a minimum of 2" added to the window opening on all sides. |
Outside-Mount
The outside-mount provides a forgiving look that can be used to hide imperfections in window framing or trim. It can also be used when the window recess is less than the 2 3/4" minimum for flush inside-mount. The shade will hang outside the window—overlapping the trim or outside frame. This is also used to mount shades to doors. To minimize light leakage we recommend you add two inches to each side, as well as top and bottom for windows without trim or molding. For openings with trim or molding, it is desirable to measure from outside edge to outside edge of molding for width, and from top edge of molding to top of sill (assuming it extends further than trim or molding) for length. If there is no sill, measure to outside edge of bottom molding. For windows that open inwards, it will be necessary to mount the shades so that they clear the top of the window when in the up position. Please contact us for proper stacking depth requirements.

Notes: Due to the nature of the material, the color, grain, texture, privacy and light transparency may vary according to the inherent qualities of the natural materials used.
Though
we strive to control every detail regarding our shade production,
some patterns may not be suitable for our friends with chemical
sensitivities. Please see Chemical Sensitivities or contact customer service for additional details.
Some patterns may require additional operating options based on ordered dimensions, conditions, and/or
special requests. An Earthshade Representative will assist with recommendations. Minor stretching and twisting is inherent to natural materials and may require a varying amount of time to acclimate. Sun exposure may cause discoloration or fading.
