Classic and Pacific Rim - Beds

Pacific Rim WoodworkingThe “Classic” and the “Pacific Rim” beds by Pacific Rim Woodworking are similar in many respects. In fact, they have the same dimensions—except, of course, the Pacific Rim inverts the curves of the Classic to create a more contemporary look.

All Pacific Rim Woodworking beds are crafted from solid Pacific Coast Maple, sustainably harvested. Each bed features a non-toxic, oil-based, hand-rubbed finish — or they can be ordered unfinished. Each bed is available in either the “Platform” or “Boxspring” version. The Platform version has a strong slat platform that nicely supports a futon, foam, or innerspring mattress. The Boxspring version is is the usual choice for use with a boxspring/mattress set.

The Classic, Platform version, is pictured at upper right with other Pacific Rim Woodworking pieces (Classic Nightstands and Short Tower). Directly below, the Pacific Rim bed is shown in the Platform version and the Classic is shown in the Boxspring version. Boxspring versions feature a taller headboard and footboard along with lowered side rails.

Like all “Platform”-version beds by Pacific Rim Woodworking, the Classic and the Pacific Rim beds come with a sturdy platform of closely spaced fir slats attached with jute webbing. Bed showing Platform Version -- showing fir slat platform, by Pacific Rim Woodworking

This platform is bolstered by a center beam — in all except the twin-size beds. The King sizes use two center beams. The “Pacific Rim,” Platform-version is pictured at right.

Boxspring versions are a little different — using four separate slats as a platform to support the boxspring/mattress set. This four-slat platform is appropriately lower in height. Therefore, the Boxspring versions of Classic and Pacific Rim beds have higher headboards and footboards—as pictured in the Classic bed at left.

Special Style Options!
The Classic bed is available in three additional configurations.
Photos are not available yet, but these quick sketches show the differences...
"Combo" option for Classic bed The “Combo” Classic bed combines the regular headboard of the Classic with the footboard of the Pacific Rim.
"Modern" option for Classic bed The “Modern” Classic bed is a combination of the Classic curved headboard with a flat footboard. That is, the footboard is the only difference—it is straight across, not curved.
"Silhouette" option for Classic bed The “Silhouette” Classic bed has both a flat headboard as well as footboard.
These configurations are available for both the Platform and Boxspring versions of the Classic bed. They have the same pricing as the regular Classic bed. Indicate choice during checkout.
